Gov. David Paterson’s idea of a tax on sugary beverages looks like a pretty sweet deal to state officials in need of quick cash. Proponents say such a tax would raise money for the state and lower obesity rates. As a physician and fitness expert for 20 years, I know that a tax is simply not an effective form of girth control.
